Essential Beliefs
As followers of Christ, there are essential beliefs that guide our lives to live for God's glory. These beliefs are not of man's design, but of God's declaration according to His Word.
The Holy Bible
The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative written Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining the truth for all beliefs and teachings. In its original writing, it is inspired by God, entirely true without error in divine purpose.
2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 16:25-26
The Trinity
While the title of Trinity does not exist in the Bible, God’s Word is explicit that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
God
There is one God who created all things, who is sovereign, all-powerful, and all-knowing.
Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16
The Father
God is our loving, holy, and sovereign Father, who adopts us into His holy family through Jesus Christ. He is not only Creator, but also Abba–our personal, caring, and ever-present Father, who disciplines us in love, provides for our needs, and desires a relationship with His children.
Ephesians 1:5, Deuteronomy 32:6, Romans 8:15, Matthew 6:26, Hebrews 12:6, Hebrews 13:5b
Jesus Christ
1Jesus Christ is God the Son and the very Word of God who has existed since time began. 2On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. 3He was born of a virgin, 4lived a sinless life, 5performed countless miracles, 6died on the cross for all mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. 7He rose from the dead on the third day, 8appearing to His disciples and many others, and 9ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father and 10intercede on our behalf, all while preparing a place for us. 12He will come again in power and glory 13to bring eternal salvation to all who eagerly await Him.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the very presence of God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is active in the world today, continuing the work of Christ renewing, sanctifying, empowering, guiding, and comforting followers of Christ. The Holy Spirit is how God identifies us as His very own. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and empowers followers to live holy and fruitful lives. We submit to His leading, depend on His power, and desire to be continually filled with His presence.
Acts 5:3-4, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Romans 8:11, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:7, Galatians 5:16, John 16:13, John 14:26, Romans 8:26, Ephesians 1:13-14
Existence of Life
We believe that life exists because God created it and gives it purpose. Life is not a cosmic accident, but the intentional act of a sovereign, living Creator. All life–human, animal, and plant–originates from God, who formed it by His Word and breath. Human life, in particular, is sacred, bearing the image of God, and is endowed with dignity, purpose, and eternal significance. We exist to bring God glory and have been given the free-will to accept this purpose.
Job 33:4; 1 Timothy 6:13; Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:11; Genesis 1:27; John 14:46; John 1:4; Acts 17:25; Isaiah 43:7; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 1:11-12
Salvation from Sin
and into Eternity
We are saved by God’s loving grace through the sacrifice of Jesus’ life as an atonement for our sins. God offered His Son for us while were still sinners. This salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or any human efforts. There will come a day, only known by God, when Jesus will return to save those who endure to the end, eagerly waiting on His return. He will take us to the place that He has been preparing for us where we will spend all of eternity with Him in His glorious light.
Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22; Titus 3:5; John 14:3, Acts 1:11, Matthew 24:13, Hebrews 9:28; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 22:4-5
Redemption
Man was originally created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression he fell; his only hope of redemption is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Gen. 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21
Renewal
For anyone to know God, renewal [regeneration] by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
John 6:44, 65; Matthew 19:28; Titus 3:5
Repentance
Repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be renewed by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 3:19; Ezekiel 18:30; Romans 12:2; Roman’s 6:11-13
Sanctification
Sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ's character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that a Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; 2 Corinthians 3:18, 6:14-18, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, Romans 8:29, 12:1-2, Hebrews 2:11
Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Through Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection, the penalty for our sin has been fully paid, giving us direct access to the presence of God. Jesus promised that after His ascension, the Father would send the Holy Spirit to indwell, fill, guide, and counsel those who believe in Him. To be baptized (immersed) in the Holy Spirit is to fully receive and surrender to God’s presence, allowing Him to lead us into His will and empower us for holy living and service.
John 14:16-17; John 16:7; John 16:13; Ephesians 2:18; John 14:26; Romans 8:14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Galatians 5:25
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit reveals Himself in our life through a variety of gifts to build up the church and give God glory. All believers are instructed to earnestly desire the gifts God has to offer so that we can fulfill His purpose. The gifts always operate in harmony with the scriptures and in glorification of God alone.
1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; 1Corinthians 12:1; 1 Corinthians 12:11; Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 John 4:1; John 16:13-14
Free Will
God gives us free will to decide and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Free will does not get removed once we accept Christ; the freedom to choose still remains and choosing Christ through surrender, love, and obedience is a daily decision we must freely make.
Deuteronomy 30:18-20; Joshua 24:15; Galatians. 5:13; Romans 6:16; Luke 9:23; Philippians 2:12-13
Forfeiture of Salvation
Salvation is a free gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. However, the Scriptures warn that this gift can be rejected or forfeited through deliberate and continual unbelief, rebellion, or turning away from God. Believers are called to persevere in faith and obedience, and to remain in Christ until the end. The assurance of salvation is not based solely on a past decision, but on a present and enduring relationship with Christ.
Hebrews 10:26-27; Colossians 1:22-23; John 15:6; Matthew 24:12-13; Revelation 3:5; 2 Peter 2:20-21
Works
God’s Word calls all believers to walk in obedience and serve in ways that are pleasing to Him. These acts are not the means of our salvation, but the evidence of a life transformed by grace. Though we are saved by faith and not by works, Scripture makes clear that genuine faith results in godly works. Our obedience and service are signs of devotion to God and are recognized by Him as confirming the reality of our salvation—or revealing our rejection of it.
Romans 12:1; Philippians 2:12-13, 15-17; James 2:17; James 2:24; Romans 2:6-8
Second Coming
Jesus said that He would return to take us into an eternal Kingdom that He was preparing for us. He will come in the twinkling of an eye at a time people will be living life as normal. Only the Father in Heaven knows when He will send His Son to gather His people.
John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Matthew 24:37-39; Matthew 24:36; Acts 1:7
Resurrection
Because Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body, we too as believers can have faith that one day, He will do this for us. However, only those who are waiting upon the Lord will be received by Him into this glorious and wonderful life.
Philippians 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Romans 6:5; Hebrews 9:28; Matthew 25:10-12
Judgement
Every person will stand before God to give an account for their life. Scripture is clear that all will face judgment—either to receive reward or face eternal separation. This judgment will reveal if we have lived in faithful obedience to Jesus Christ as Lord. On that day, God will either welcome us into His eternal Kingdom with joy or declare separation from His presence for those who rejected Him.
Romans 14:10,12; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 25:21; Matthew 7:23; Matthew 25:41
Heaven
Heaven is the eternal dwelling place prepared by God for all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. It is a place of perfect joy, peace, and communion with God, where there is no more death, sorrow, or pain. In Heaven, believers will dwell in the presence of God forever, worshiping Him and reigning with Christ in glory. This hope is a promise secured through Christ’s resurrection and is the inheritance of every child of God.
John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 21:3-4
Hell
Hell is a real and eternal place of judgment, created for the devil and his demons, where all who reject Jesus Christ will be separated from the presence of God. It is a place of conscious torment, described in Scripture as fire, darkness, and eternal punishment. God’s desire is that none should perish, but those who refuse His grace and persist in unbelief will face eternal separation from Him.
Revelation 14:10-11; Revelation 20:15; John 3:18; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
Tithing & Giving
Christians are called to be generous with what God has entrusted to them. The starting point of this generosity is to honor God by returning to Him the tithe, the first 10% of your income, through the local church where you are ministered to. Returning the tithe comes before the giving of any other offerings and is foundational biblical stewardship. All generosity should be done cheerfully, out of obedience and in response to God’s Word, promises, and goodness toward us.
Malachi 3:10; Proverbs 3:9-10; Leviticus 26:30; Matthew 23:23; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Marriage
God defines marriage as a covenant, a sacred bond, between one man and one woman who come together for the purpose of becoming one before God.
Matthew 19:4-5
Sanctity of Life
God says that He knows us and formed us in our mother’s womb, therefore life begins at conception. All life is God designed, created and brought to life for His divine purpose and must be cared for as such.
Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13-16; Job 10:8-12; Isaiah 44:2; Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:16
